Al Schmitt’s Signature Sound: Elevate Your Mixes with Multi-Band Compression Magic!

The one thing that multi Grammy winning Audio Engineer, Al Schmitt said he uses on every single mix since he started using it in 2008, was the TUBE TECH SMC2B multiband compressor.

He is also the guy that never uses EQ on a recording or mix engineered himself. I wish more people would follow this rule and not get so EQ happy with every single track. But, we can learn from the greats like Al to overcome this youtube regurgitation. 

In my search to bring that amazing analog sound and workflow to a modern era od DAW engineering, I thought I would test out Al's mixbus approach and see if we can get a better sounding song.
